In just a couple of weeks, CloudSigma will be taking the stage at Structure:Europe 2012, October 16-17, 2012 in Amsterdam, alongside CERN in the panel Large Clouds for Large Colliders: Insights from the CERN Science Cloud, being held at 4:20 p.m. CEST on Wednesday, October 17th.
Running data centers is seen as an additional task to the work of research organizations like CERN, EMBL and ESA. With the amount of data being stored reaching 23 petabytes a year in publicly owned data centers, inception of a science cloud was fueled by the scientists themselves.
Our session will explore the coordination among the participating companies in the Helix Nebula science-cloud. We will share their process of discovery and how such scientific research organizations achieved interoperability among different clouds, managed networking challenges, ensured security, and allowed the smooth movement of vast amounts of data between different locations.
