Lack of education is rated as one of the top ten global issues. Young generations are lost in the dynamics of their environment and sometimes miss the importance of high-quality education and the quality of life improvements they can achieve through this. However, there are organizations out there that support young students in their educational path and mentor them. One such organization is Student Mentor – their mission is to provide all students access to high quality and relevant mentors with a view to raising academic achievement. The Need
Nationally in the USA, an astonishing 51% of college students fail to graduate within six years. Moreover, 4 out of 5 low-income college students fail to attain a Bachelor’s degree by their mid-20s. A study commissioned by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation found that “A student who makes the connection between obtaining a college degree and his or her career goals is a full six times as likely to attain a degree as one who doesn’t. In addition, the study identifies this factor as the single largest impact on an individual student’s likelihood of completing college. Today’s students face ever-increasing tuition costs and uncertain post-graduation employment prospects. By connecting with professionals who provide advice regarding how a college major will lead to a successful career, students can begin to understand the value of earning a college degree.
The Collaboration
CloudSigma has been supporting Student Mentor from 2010 as part of our charitable activities which are directed towards organizations whose purpose, mission, and vision we find close to our own values and whose requirements can be assisted by us.
Student Mentor was started by Ash Jafari and Stephanie Bravo and has grown over the years. Currently, thousands of people have volunteered to mentor students in the program.
StudentMentor.org is helping students graduate from college and embark on their careers through mentorship. Moreover, professionals from all different disciplines help provide advice and support for students along their journey.
Cloud computing was first used in 2010 when the organization was formed. Subsequently, it was an integral part of the organization’s efficiency and operations which require a reliable IT infrastructure. For this reason, they started searching for a company that could ensure qualitative services and secure cloud services.
