VNC is best used as an initial set-up tool rather than a long-term remote access solution. If you are using Windows you should switch to using Remote Desktop which you can enable from within the Windows operating system. If you are using Linux, SSH access is both more secure and faster and again can be enabled from within the operating system. If you have a long-term visual remote access need under Linux, one solution that can improve performance over regular VNC access is NoMachine NX. This can be downloaded from http://www.nomachine.com . Many users need low latency visual remote access have reported significantly lower latency and higher performance using this software.
