Currently it is necessary to shut down the server to make changes to the drives associated with it so this isn’t something possible in our system. It is quite complicated to achieve in the virtualisation layer however the good news is that usually it simply isn’t necessary. As CDs are a write-only storage medium, you can add a CD to as many servers as you want simultaneously without issue. As such, in nearly all cases you can simply leave the CD mounted to the server as it doesn’t cause any issues and it will still be available for active use in relation to other servers you may wish to use the CD with. By the way, you can also mount at least eight drives per server so you can have more than one CD or hard drive image associated with a server if necessary.
